Between Deserts Consulting engages networked partners, each with years of experience in the Arab world to provide a comprehensive range of services.

Our locally-based specialists enable us to provide on-the-ground experience, contacts and resources at competitive rates. Each project is matched with the most suitable and efficient team of consultants and advisors.

Program Management

We provide end to end program planning, logistics, monitoring, and evaluation. This covers projects of all scales, from individual research trips to major workshops, summits and events.

Past experience includes work alongside British and Australian universities, the British Council, Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, international NGOs and high net-worth individuals.

Alex ran a complex programme of ideal and often imaginative activities for my group, over a two week period in Jordan. He is very thorough in his preparation and is always considering how things can be improved. … He is well connected and has a knack for making productive relationships with people and their organisations … He is adaptable, tailors activities to suit your needs and handles cultural sensitivities, demonstrating his experience and drive to give excellent results.

– Henry Dawson, Lecturer, Cardiff Metropolitan University

Stakeholder Engagement

With more than twenty years of combined experience across higher education, diplomacy, private enterprise, and the humanitarian sector, Between Deserts is adept at establishing and managing relationships with a broad range of local stakeholders.

Interpreting, Translation and Editing

Our consulting partners are either fluent or highly proficient in written and spoken English, Arabic and French.

We employ several sworn translators with decades of experience in translation and interpreting as well as professional editors specialising in Arabic-English published communications.

Clients have included Hivos International, Lebanon Support, The German Development Coorporation and The Arab Reform Initiative.

We are highly proficient at conducting both academic and industry research across a wide range of geo-political, social and economic fields.

Our partners have experience conducting primary and secondary research for regional and international business, international NGOs and universities. We are able to streamline research projects along with report writing, editing and publication stages.

Alternative tourism

Extensive in-field experience in Jordan and Lebanon means we are able to arrange customised small-medium group tours on both general and specific themes. These can include visits to and detailed briefings at refugee camps, think tanks, local NGOs, universities, cultural centres and heritage sites.

Our packages provide all in-country logistics customised to group needs.

In addition we arrange volunteering agreements with local NGOs with positions available across a range of skill-sets.

“Given Lebanon’s reputation for instability, I contacted Alex to get customised travel and business insights for my first visit. He was able to give me specific advice on safety, drivers, destinations and activities. He was able to put together a thorough itinerary and written suggestions and his excellent Arabic helped ensure language barriers did not impede arrangements.”

– Abraham David, Managing Director, Asia Pacific Labour Management Services

Arabic training

Alongside our primary services, we offer tailored Arabic-language training for individuals and groups. This is available online and in-person (in Jordan, Lebanon, the UK and Australia) at competitive rates using industry-leading curricula.

All Between Deserts services can be complemented and documented by professional photography and film-making for both personal and commercial use.
